Marshall Ministry Newsletter: September 2007
Hello Friends,
September was a wonderful and busy month. As you know if you looked on my website, we were expecting the arrival of my first grandson on the 20th of September. And right on time, here he came. Caden Marshall Frey was born at 1:06 pm in Marion, IL, and he weighed 7lbs, 10oz.
The birth of a child is one of God's greatest miracles. Jesus said, "Let the little children come unto me and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these." (Matthew 19:14)
Before Caden was born, I prayed God's blessings over his life, that when he reaches the age of accountability, he will seek God's favor and become a man after God's own heart. I have heard a lot of grandparents brag about their grandchildren, and I am no exception. Grandchildren are very precious.
In addition to the birth of this first grandchild, I was also quite busy in September with some concerts. I started singing with "One Voice" again. This is the group I have been involved with for nearly 5 years. I took a year off from singing with them because my schedule was so busy. Now God has brought us back together again, and singing with Bryan and Matt is such a blessing for me. These guys have a wonderful Godly spirit surrounding them.
"One Voice" is more than your average trio. Not only are they fun to be with and talented, but they minister to people too. We have had some of the most wonderful concerts lately, and that is because we have some of the most loyal fans anyone could ask for. On behalf of Bryan and Matt and myself, I want to say thank you to all of those who follow and support "One Voice." Without your support, our ministry would not be what it is today. "One Voice," along with several other groups, will be in Portland, Michigan next year on March 8th at the celebration weekend of the Nazarene Church. We are very excited about being there and look forward to a wonderful time in the Lord.
Also, "One Voice" currently has a CD available, and we will soon release another. If you would like to visit their website, go to www.onevoicetrio.org.
Recently, I sang at the 3ABN fall camp meeting. I was so excited to be there and to share God's bountiful blessings with all of those there. I visited with a lot of old friends, and we had such a wonderful time reminiscing and laughing about old times. I talked with several people from churches that I had been to all across the country. I absolutely love to laugh and have a great time in the Lord. I truly believe there is joy in serving the Lord, don't you?
During this fall camp meeting, I wore a tie with "Fred Flintstone" on the front of it. I had that tie for about twenty years but seldom wore it. I never want to be a distraction from the message in a song. However, I feel that God can also use humor in a way that can ease your troubles and cause you to find joy and happiness. That is what God has done for me my friend. In all the sadness this world can bring, look to Him, for there is joy in serving the Lord.
If you did not see camp meeting on 3ABN, you missed the "Fred Flintstone" tie and the part where I showed the tie and said, "This is a picture of Danny Shelton." Let me say that Danny and I have a wonderful friendship, and I would never say or do anything that would hurt him; however, that was funny right there. After I said that, Danny came out on stage with scissors and cut the tie off. That was the funniest thing. The crowd roared with laughter. It wasn't staged at all. It just happened that way. I cherish Danny's friendship, and I believe he truly is a man of God. Let's keep him in our prayers.
In the middle of October, I go to Nashville, Tennessee to record another CD, and as usual, the songs on this new project are songs that have spoken to my heart. I pray they will speak to your heart as they do mine. Look for this release before the end of the year.
I have a very close and personal friend. He and his wife, Rita, pastor a local church. They are truly servants of God. He had a very important part in my wife's funeral service. He also serves on the Board of Darrell Marshall Ministry. I have asked Pastor Kenny Rager to write an article for this month's newsletter. Let his words touch your heart today.
God Bless You All,
--Darrell Marshall

Pastor Kenneth Rager in Springerton, Illinois
My name is Kenneth Rager. I accepted Jesus as my personal savior in 1979 and the call to preach in 1980. I now pastor Springerton Community Church in Springerton, Illinois. I have been married for 38 years to my wife Rita. We have two sons. Brett is married to Sara; they have one daughter named Ashlyn and live in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Our other son Brian lives in Evansville, Indiana.
My name is not important, but the name of Jesus is the most valuable name you will ever know. Greetings in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
I would like to share with you a story: The caterpillar of a moth, we are told, becomes like the color of the leaf upon which it feeds. Its color in this way indicates the character of the food it eats. If we would be like Christ, we must feed on Him. Our moral character will always manifest the color of our mental food. Christ lived upon the Word of God His Father, and so maintained a life that was like God. If we would be his disciples, we must come after Him in this matter. The word of God tells us in Matthew 4:4, "It is written, man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God."
Bro. Darrell sings from his heart to share the gospel for lost people to be saved and Christian people to be blessed. The music that he shares is a testimony of what God can do for each one of us if we will let Him in. I count Bro. Darrell and his family as dear friends. I pray his music ministry brings God's blessing on each one of you.
One last thought, when a man joins the volunteers he offers himself for military training, but only for home service; but when a man joins the regulars he offers himself for service anywhere. Bro. Darrell has volunteered for regular service for Christ. He is willing to go anywhere the LORD directs his path.
